Fauci Says Schools “Need More Resources” Before They Can Reopen

Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, just said that a stimulus bill needs to be passed in order for schools to “safely reopen.” He appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with host George Stephanopoulos and talked about needing Biden’s massive $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package in order to do that.

“It’s the first time that it’s been put down in a document based on scientific observations and data over the last several months to a year, both in the United States and elsewhere. Part of that is to indicate and to suggest strongly that a preference be given to teachers to get vaccinated,” Fauci said.

He talked about schools “needing more resources” and getting the national relief act passed in order to reopen schools during the pandemic. He said that it wouldn’t be a “perfect situation” but that it’s important for teachers and children to get back in the safest way possible.

Biden’s Administration previously set a goal of reopening schools within their first 100 days in office, but that tune quickly changed when teacher unions refused to return to work until everyone was vaccinated.

Just three months ago, Dr. Fauci said it was critical for schools to open as safely as possible and that vaccines were not mandated for teachers. He told ABC host Martha Raddatz that there was no “one-size-fits-all” answer, but that states should close the bars and keep the schools open. He noted that schools have not been the driver of the community spread of the virus. “If you look at the data, the spread among children and from children is not really very big at all, not like one would have suspected,” he said.

When asked by Stephanopoulos if schools had the resources available to abide by the new CDC guidelines, Fauci said he did not believe so and that Biden’s plan would help. He also talked about the “rising threats” posed by the coronavirus variants from the U.K and South Africa, stating that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have been “clearly” effective. He said widespread vaccine administration was the best way to avoid “serious consequences.”

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky even said teachers could safely return to work without the vaccine. Press Secretary Jen Psaki, however, covered her own tracks and said that Walensky was speaking in her “personal capacity” and not for the Biden Administration as a whole.

This is a disaster for Fauci’s credibility since he’s been calling schools to reopen for months now. Under the Biden Administration, science follows the funding, not the science.
