MSNBC Host Claims Destroyed Mom-And-Pop Shops Are ‘Not Equatable’ To Capitol Riot

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough recently demeaned small business owners whose livelihoods and stores were burned and destroyed amid last year’s radical left riots while making the claim that the Jan. 6 Capitol riots were an act of “insurrection.” We all know that radical left politicians live in their own version of reality, far away from the working middle class, but we didn’t estimate how much they’ve strayed away from common sense, in general.

Scarborough started the strange rant Tuesday on “Morning Joe,” in which he accused his critics of comparing riots in cities across America last year with the Capitol riot on Jan. 6. Co-host Mika Brzezinski laughed uncomfortably as he targeted, of all people, taco stand owners.

“I know there are idiots on other cable news channels that will say, ‘Well, this mom-and-pop store was vandalized during the summer riots, and that’s just as bad as the United States Capitol being vandalized.’ No jackass, it’s not. The Capitol of the United States of America is the center of American democracy. And while I am a fierce believer in people’s right to defend their private property, I’m not going to confuse a taco stand with the United States Capitol,” Scarborough said.

He went on to say that he would not confuse selling tacos with members of the House and Senate trying to perform their constitutional duties, noting that “property damage does not equal insurrection.”

He argued with The Daily Caller on Twitter after they posted a clip of his rant and blasted “idiots” for downplaying the severity of the Capitol riot. “Are you too stupid to understand the destruction of personal property is abhorrent, and at the same time realize that a terrorist attack against the US Capitol is a greater threat to America?”

The Daily Caller’s response was to send Scarborough a video of a Kenosha, Wis., man whose furniture store was burned down. “Was Scott Carpenter’s furniture store which was burned down during the riot in Kenosha just a taco stand @JoeNBC?” They asked.

However, Trump’s attorney Bruce Castor argued successfully during last week’s Senate impeachment trial that the attack on the Capitol was not an insurrection at all. “Insurrection is a term … defined in the law that involves taking over a country, a shadow government, taking the TV stations over and having some plan of what you will do when you finally take power. Clearly, this is not that,” he said.

Others pointed out that this wasn’t an “armed insurrection,” but just a bunch of idiots. Reports reveal that only one firearm was confiscated during the event. Using that logic, Scarborough would be right. Property damage does not equal insurrection…and the Capitol riot was not an insurrection. Democrats could really dig their own graves using that line.

Of course, Scarborough’s elitist smears had nothing to do with business owners or the attack on the Capitol. He was attempting to downplay months of rioting and an untold dollars worth of property damage. Democrats have endorsed and funded rioters to destroy their own communities just to score a couple of political points.

First, it’s about property damage, then it’s about protesting about inequality, and finally, it’s about insurrection. They’ve conveniently flipped the narrative and coined the ‘insurrection’ term as much as possible to continue driving wedges into society (while blaming Republicans for it). Unity, right?
