Trump And McCarthy Have Big Plans For 2022

Published on

Former President Donald Trump met with Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The two met to discuss helping the GOP take back the House in the 2022 midterm elections and discuss handling Trumps’ place in the party. They issued a statement summarizing their meeting together.

“The meeting between President Donald J. Trump and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, was a very good and cordial one. They discussed many topics, number one of which was taking back the House in 2022. President Trump’s popularity has never been stronger than it is today, and his endorsement means more than perhaps any endorsement at any time,” the statement reads.

The statement discussed the GOP leader’s struggles in keeping his caucus happy in the aftermath of the attack against the U.S Capitol. Ten Republicans had voted to impeach Trump for inciting violence that day including Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney and Rep. Matt Gaetz, which furthered tensions within the Party. While McCarthy did not vote to impeach the former President, he did not actively urge members of his caucus to oppose the vote either.

McCarthy said a united conservative movement between Trump and the Republican Party would strengthen the bonds of our citizens and uphold the freedoms our country was founded on. The two would work together on helping the Republican Party become a majority in the House again with Trump’s endorsement, which the statement noted, “has never been stronger than it is today.”

McCarthy and Trump previously worked together in the last election, picking up at least 15 seats when most had predicted the opposite. McCarthy released his own statement regarding the meeting and looking to flip the House and Senate together. He talked about realizing that the party’s political outlook will improve when they make amends with its most popular figure.

“Today, President Trump committed to helping elect Republicans in the House and Senate in 2022. A Republican majority will listen to our fellow Americans and solve the challenges facing our nation. Democrats, on the other hand, have only put forward an agenda that divides us — such as impeaching a President who is now a private citizen and destroying blue-collar energy jobs. For the sake of our country, the radical Democrat agenda must be stopped,” McCarthy said.

The meeting drew attention from Democrats claiming Trump was still an ‘active threat of violence’ killing three police officers and with dozens more injured. The Democrat Party’s change in tone on law enforcement support comes after months of justifying riots and endorsing cop killers who were burning down their towns. It’s nothing more than a political stunt to keep Trump as far away from Washington D.C as possible.

What could they be so afraid of?
