Dems Have Grown Oddly Silent On Cuomo Since The ‘Me Too’ Movement

Published on

The Me Too Movement has lost momentum as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a political leader praised by the radical left throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently facing seven accusations of sexual harassment. Some left-leaning politicians have called for his resignation while others have maintained silence, despite having a “zero tolerance” rule for sexual assault and harassment accusations.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has made the list of radical left democrats refusing to ask Cuomo to step down from his role as governor. In an interview with ABC’s ‘This Week,” she shared that Cuomo should “look inside his heart” to see if he can govern effectively. This rings differently than what she said about Judge Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 when Dr. Christine Blasey Ford made allegations against Kavanaugh. She wrote that “survivors should be supported when they come forward” and talked about launching a thorough investigation into these “serious and credible allegations.”

When asked by George Stephanopoulos if Cuomo should resign, Pelosi repeated her “no tolerance” policy and said that they should see the results of the investigation being done by New York’s attorney general Letitia James.

“I think we should see the results, but he may decide, and hopefully this result will be soon, and what I’m saying is the governor should look inside his heart. He loves New York, to see if he can govern effectively. That could be one of the considerations he has,” Pelosi said.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has also refused to call for Cuomo to resign from his role, despite calls from New York Democrats and Republicans. Even New York Democratic Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer, along with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jerry Nadler have called on Cuomo to leave his state governor position.

When a reporter asked why Gov. Cuomo was still leading weekly White House pandemic calls, Psaki replied that it would be “up to the National Governors Association” to determine how he would lead the state of New York and assure confidence in his people. Seems a little too late for that.

Psaki even tried to point the blame on the Trump Administration, noting that he was put in charge of those calls in order to break apart from “the way the last administration approached COVID-19.” Mind you, Cuomo is also under investigation for underreporting COVID-19 numbers in nursing home deaths last year. She went on to say that Biden wants a “quick” review of troubling sexual harassment claims, but that he isn’t ready to ask for a resignation quite yet.

When President Biden was recently asked about Cuomo resigning from office, he responded “I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us.” It went from “believing all victims” to “we should see.”
