Due to President Biden’s ongoing crisis at the border, Arizona Gila Bend Mayor Chris Riggs recently declared a state of emergency as a result of the surge of illegal immigrants. The number of illegal border crossings has now reached more than 6,000 per day, which is six times more than what the Obama Administration even deemed as a “crisis,” and over 15,000 unaccompanied children are being held in migrant facilities.
The press has consistently been denied access into the facilities and a gag order has been placed on all Homeland Security Officials and U.S Border Agents. Yet White House press secretary Jen Psaki still wants to call this just “challenges on the border.” Unreal.
Arizona’s declaration occurred after Customs Border Patrol announced that they would be dropping busloads of migrants off throughout the state. 16 migrants had been recently dropped off at a park in Gila Bend, which is a small town of merely 2,000 people but does not offer any hospitals or shelters. While Mayor Riggs and his wife offered to loan vans that could take migrants to the Phoenix Welcome Center instead, Border Patrol agents told him that these drop-offs to the middle of nowhere would be a “regular occurrence” in the state.
“Border Patrol let us know that they were going to be dropping migrants that had been detained for 72 hours in our town, which we really didn’t understand because we have nothing here. We have no charity organizations that can help, no non-governmental organizations that a lot of the larger cities and towns do have to assist these people,” Mayor Riggs said.
The Biden Administration, as well as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandros Mayorkas, have denied any crisis at the border and continue to blame the Trump Administration for why they “inherited a broken system.” Texas officials have even had to open up several new facilities and convention centers, as well as a tent city in Midland, Texas, for the surge of migrants at the U.S-Mexico border.
CBP agents have even released migrant adults and families into the Rio Grande Valley area before they’ve been given a date to appear in court for their hearings. They were simply asked for “contact information” and given documents that had a “to be determined” marking under the court dates. Migrant families were told they would be contacted within a month.
Mayor Riggs adds that the people being bussed over to Gila Bend haven’t received any coronavirus testing, food, or housing instructions. He explained that just to test 2 busloads of people each week for a year would end up costing the town at least $600,000. The small town hasn’t been given any federal, state, or local funding to address these issues and is still waiting on word from the Biden Administration on what to do. The Mayor explained that he, his wife, and two other volunteers, ended up driving migrants to the welcome center in Phoenix themselves in fear that “they’re here to stay.” Violent crime has spiked within the area, including approximately 20 illegal immigrants arriving every day in his town on foot.
The Biden Administration is still dropping off illegal immigrants with no money, food, or place to stay. Yet radical left platforms, such as MSNBC, continue to point the blame on Republicans for “fear-mongering” tactics against illegal immigrants and still question whether or not there is actually a “crisis” on the border at all. It’s a wonder what reality Democrats live in, but it’s clear they have to live in whatever reality fits their narrative and pushes their political agendas. Even if that reality starts crumbling before their eyes.
