Idaho Gov. Brad Little recently signed House Bill 377, otherwise known as “Dignity And Nondiscrimination In Public Education,” which would prohibit public schools and universities from introducing, adopting, or adhering to the teachings of Critical Race Theory. Idaho has become the first state to ban public schools from forcing students or other school staff to adopt the ideas from Critical Race Theory, which compel individuals to view others through the discriminatory lens of race.
Critical Race Theory currently promotes race essentialism, collective guilt, and Neo-segregation. It teaches students and staff members to view every social interaction and person in terms of race. While the bill doesn’t prevent Critical Race Theory from being taught, it protects students from having to adhere to the belief that “any sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior.” It also prohibits students from adopting the belief that certain characteristics (such as race or gender) are inherently responsible for actions committed in the past.
While some schools have already started teaching “anti-racism education,” some teachers and parents have had enough of the radical left instruction. Parent Andrew Gutmann pulled his own daughter out of The Brearley School, an all-girls school in Manhattan, over the teachings that young girls should judge people by the color of their skin and teach students that “Blacks should forever be regarded as helpless victims, and are incapable of success regardless of their skills, talents, or hard work.”
“I object to a definition of systemic racism, apparently supported by Brearley, that any educational, professional, or societal outcome where Blacks are underrepresented is prima facie evidence of the aforementioned systemic racism, or of white supremacy and oppression. Facile and unsupported beliefs such as these are the polar opposite to the intellectual and scientific truth for which Brearley claims to stand,” Gutmann wrote.
Some schools have even held “mandatory anti-racism” training for parents and touted Black Lives Matter diversity and equity training that neither speak for the majority of the Black community nor in any way, represent their best interests. It only speaks to the radical left politicians and “racial justice” advocates who profit from division in the country.
The Carroll Independent School District in Dallas, Texas, is also bending a knee to the ‘woke mob’ and has created a “Cultural Competence Action Plan” program to fight racism after a video of school students singing along to racial sluts in a rap song went viral.
Retired Dallas Cowboys player Russell Maryland and Robin Cornish, who have kids in the district, accused the school district of “sweeping this under the carpet” and accused the town of harboring racists. Maryland and Cornish claimed that students and parents have been “forever damaged” by the kind of institutional racism in Southlake illustrated by people who sing rap.
But another parent, Joan Saldivar, argues his opposition to restructuring the Southlake schools around race-centered teachings. He said the teachings are the “seeds of destruction” that ruin one’s ability to grow up happy and become their own leader in society.
“The idea that America is flawed because some people have a [racist] problem in their minds, that’s a recipe to keep you in poverty and unhappiness for the rest of your life. My parents always told me it doesn’t matter whether people like you, it matters whether the law protects you, and it does,” he said.
The school’s teachings organize students into groups based on race and go through a series of slides that teach them about “white fragility,” which pushes the idea that systemic racism infects all white people even if they can’t identify it or try to deny it.
While Idaho may be the first state to ban the adoption of these teachings, it will certainly not be the last. Critical race theory is poison – and has always been poison. But Democrats know that.
