Former President Donald Trump recently announced that he will be visiting the US-Mexico border with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. He said he wanted to draw attention to the grave situation that was being neglected by his successor, President Joe Biden. He said that the Biden Administration inherited the “strongest, safest, and most secure border” in US history and that he turned it into the “single worst border crisis in US history.”
“Biden and Harris have handed control of our border over to cartels, criminals, and coyotes. Drug dealers, MS-13 gang members, human smugglers, sex traffickers, and the criminal elements of the world now have free reign [sic]. Hospitals and schools are getting crushed and public health is being sacrificed all in service of a radical left anti-borders agenda,” Trump said.
Trump talked about some of the policies that Biden reversed, saying they went from “detain and remove” to “catch and release.” He declared that the U.S border security was the “envy of the world” and now it is pitied by all of the leaders. The most recent report from US Customs and Border Protection states that May saw more than 180,000 illegal immigrants stopped at the border, a number that exceeded any record since the department opened in April 2000.
Gov. Abbott has been a vocal critic of the Biden Administration throughout the border crisis and just last week announced his ambition to build a border wall. He said he would be accepting public funds to help pay for the wall’s construction and that he wants to help Texas stop the flow of illegal immigration. He even said that anyone crossing the border into the state illegally would be subject to arrest.
Trump announced that he accepted an invite from Gov. Abbott to visit the southern border at the end of June. He called it an “unmitigated disaster zone” since he left office and said that the Biden Administration is letting dangerous criminals loose and creating the crisis themselves.
“If this weren’t bad enough, Biden and Harris won’t even tour the scenes of the wreckage they created, or come down and visit with the Border Patrol and ICE heroes risking their lives to defend our Nation at a time when the White House is doing everything it can to make their job totally impossible,” Trump said.
While President Biden has tapped Vice President Kamala Harris as Border Czar, she has yet to announce plans to visit the southern border.
Gov. Abbott has taken it into his own hands and told Fox News Sean Hannity that the state of Texas is ready to arrest illegal immigrants and put them in jail “for a long time.” He said that he will protect fellow Texans along the southern border and do the job that Biden refuses to do.
Conservative commentators pointed out Trump’s appearance at the border while VP Harris remains MIA. Newsmax’s Jenn Pellegrino tweeted out, “While Kamala dodges questions & travels everywhere but the border, President Trump has announced he will visit our “decimated southern border” on June 30 with @GovAbbott And unlike the current admin, the media will have ACCESS to this visit!”
Florida GOP candidate Lavern Spicer also tweeted out that “President Trump going to the border before Kamala is the ULTIMATE OWN for these fake Democrats.”
Retired U.S Border Patrol officer Randy Clark reported that an estimated 250,000 illegal aliens have managed to avoid capture and have escaped into the U.S. While the Biden Administration continues to push policies that allow transgender boys to compete in female sports and Critical Race Theory in the classroom, Republicans are working to battle an actual crisis, with people who are breaking federal immigration laws in our streets.
