CNN Gets Caught Cherry Picking A Story About Four Florida Educators

CNN has been in hot water recently for a number of things. Last week, the left-leaning platform dominated headlines and was under intense scrutiny over host Chris Cuomo, who has repeatedly been swept up in scandals regarding his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Colleagues have been put in uncomfortable positions on the show, with chief media correspondent Brian Stelter saying that it has been a conundrum for CNN with “no perfect answer” and “no perfect solution.”

CNN spent months throughout the COVID-19 pandemic praising the Cuomo brothers for all they’ve done. Chris Cuomo conducted nearly a dozen interviews with his governor brother, in which they joked about competing for their mother’s affection and using prop comedy. This all happened during the nursing home scandal.

CNN recently shared the story about a young mother of three kids who were facing eviction due to the moratorium ends. They raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for her GoFundMe account, just to find out that she wasn’t even the mother of the children. She was the father’s girlfriend.

And now they are getting attention after pushing another fear porn story. The story, of course, turned out to be false. CNN originally reported about Florida teachers who died from COVID-19. They brought attention to Broward County, where at least three teachers all caught the virus and died within a 24-hour period. CNN anchor John Berman first reported the story.

“More breaking news, we have a sad development we just learned of out of Florida. WFOR is reporting that four teachers from Broward County have died from COVID in a single day. The teachers union chief told the affiliate that three of the four, at least three of the four were unvaccinated. The status of the fourth is not currently unknown,” Berman said.

Berman went on to suggest that the brawl between Broward County and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is leading to the teachers’ deaths. He pointed to DeSantis’ ban of mask mandates, adding that they’ve had over 108 Broward County employees have tested positive for COVID-19. Co-host Brianna Keilar warned that the numbers were “stunning” and emphasized how there must be a lot of grief in the community for the cost of COVID-19, especially for the unvaccinated.

CNN and Keilar shared tweets about the story and said “four educators” in Broward County, Florida died. At least three were unvaccinated and the status of the fourth is not yet known. They later corrected the article after finding out that one of the four people was just a Broward County Public Schools graduate with “close ties to the school district.” Both tweets are now deleted.

The CNN cohosts also stressed that Broward County officials have been asking for the freedom to make decisions to protect not only kids but the teachers. Critics lashed out at the segment and said CNN forgot to mention one key factor. Schools in Broward County don’t start until next week, which means that the COVID-19 positive teachers didn’t contract the virus in the classroom.

Not to mention, kids aren’t banned from wearing masks. The state is banned from instilling mask mandates. Parents who are concerned for their kid’s health and wellbeing can make the best decisions for them, but it is not up to the state. Gov. DeSantis made it very clear that he is protecting the rights of all parents to make decisions for their children.

Other columnists have had enough with CNN. New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz called the article “garbage” and said it was shameful silence from the rest of the media. Fourth Watch media critic Steve Krakauer also pointed out that it was “absurd framing” and had nothing to do with them being teachers or mask mandates in schools. The teachers didn’t get COVID-19 in schools from kids, which makes their status as “educators” completely irrelevant.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the article is doing nothing but pushing a political agenda. They cherry-pick the information they want and trash the rest. When you question it, it’s just “misinformation” to them. There’s a reason former president Donald Trump started calling it fake news.
