Surgeon General Supports Biden’s Vaccine Mandate, Says They Will Monitor Those Getting Exemptions

Published on

Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy recently share his “relief” regarding President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates on federal workers and federal contractors, adding that he is sure a lot of businesses feel the same.

Dr. Murthy said the measures will help the nation address the Delta variant and do everything they can to fight the virus. He even said that Biden’s actions are “not the only set of aggressive actions that we have taken in the administration.” He said there will be more actions to work on in the days ahead and that the president will be making “additional measures” soon to help vaccinate the world.

“There will be more actions that we continue to work on in the days ahead, and especially on the global front, where we will be taking steps, and the president will be making announcements ahead of the U.N. General Assembly about additional measures that we’re taking to help vaccinate the world,” Dr. Murthy said.

Murthy went on to say that Americans shouldn’t even attempt to seek exemptions to the rules, adding that they need to be vigilant in making sure people are not abusing it. He said they will not give out exemptions where they don’t apply and that they’ll continue to monitor in the days and weeks ahead.

But some Republican governors, such as Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, have warned the Biden Administration that the harder they push vaccines on the American people, the harder some will push back. He said that Biden’s authoritative move increases the division in terms of vaccination and that businesses should be able to make independent choices for their workplace.

“This is a very serious, deadly virus and we’re all together in trying to get an increased level of vaccination out in the population. The problem is that I’m trying to overcome resistance, but the president’s actions in a mandate harden the resistance,” Hutchinson explained.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie mirrored the same message, explaining how it will only harden the opposition when you’re a leader and being told to go in with a sledgehammer. He said he’s been known to do that when it was appropriate but that this is not the time to do that. He said you have to continue to be persuasive and work with the government without forcing people to either get vaccinated or not. He went on to say that the logic of Biden’s order contradicts everything.

“Because what they’re telling us is, by all the data, that vaccinated people are very, very well protected from anyone who’s unvaccinated and who has it, yet they’re saying to us, ‘We have to do this to protect you.’ Well, that’s protecting the unvaccinated from the unvaccinated. They’re making choices,” Christie said.

Dr. Murthy has even gone on to support the contradicting claims along with defending the Biden Administration for not requiring proof of a COVID-19 vaccination to travel on airplanes. He said it was “reasonable” to not require a vaccine mandate on airplanes just in case unvaccinated people need to fly in emergency situations. Murthy said they are going to have to “figure out a way” to ensure that people can travel in the case of emergencies. Others argued that it’s not up to the government’s business what their purpose for travel is.

Murthy went on to say that the mandate would get out economy back in place, schools in session, and taking the extra steps to keep work environments safe. There are only a few exceptions under Biden’s mandate and it has been met by Republican governors with clear opposition.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said that the mandate was unconstitutional as President Biden has “declared war against capitalism, thumbed their noses at the Constitutions, and empowered our enemies abroad.” He said the American dream has turned into a nightmare under the radical left Biden Administration.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has vocalized his opposition to the mandate as well, stating that it is an “assault to private businesses.” He has already issued an Executive Order to protect Texans and businesses against Biden’s mandate and to give Texans’ the right to choose whether or not to get the COVID-19 vaccine. He said they are working hard to halt this power grab.

Murthy has continued to say he respects the people that have a “variety of opinions” on the measures and that they will “welcome” those measures.

There isn’t a single reason for the mandate since a person who is vaccinated by personal choice is protected and has nothing to worry about. If the mask and vaccination aren’t effective, then what’s the point of doing all of this? There’s no other reason than a power grab.
