Another White House Staffer Departs Amid Reports Of Turmoil

As President Biden’s approval ratings continue to plummet, another staffer has left the White House. Emma Riley, White House Communications Chief of Staff, announced Friday via Twitter that she was leaving the West Wing to join the Labor Department.

Riley wrote that it was an honor and privilege to serve @POTUS and that she is excited about moving down Pennsylvania Ave. and traveling around the United States with @SecMartyWalsh.” Riley’s departure from the White House was not the only one. Vice President Kamala Harris, the communications director for the East Wing, recently resigned amid reports of chaos.

Ashley Etienne, the long-time adviser to Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), served twice as Pelosi’s communications director and in the Obama White House.

It was reported that Ashley was a valuable member of the Vice President’s Team, and has worked tirelessly for the administration’s goals. “She will be leaving the office in December to pursue new opportunities.” Harris’s office was racked with frustration and dysfunction. George Stephanopoulos, ABC News reporter, asked Harris if she felt “underused” or misused by the Biden administration. She laughed in her answer.

A poll released showed that Biden’s lowest scores during his presidency have been at 44% and 54% respectively. His approval rating is 44% and 54% respectively. It was 46-53% last month. June was his best month, with 56-43%.

Comparatively to six months ago, Biden’s approval is down 16 points for his handling of the coronavirus, 15 on the economy, and 7 on immigration. At the moment, 36% approve of Biden’s efforts in the economy while 31% approve on immigration. 48% approve of Biden’s greatest issue, the pandemic.

A majority of respondents disapprove of Harris’ job and believe she is not qualified to run for president.
