CNN’s April Ryan Asks Pete Buttigieg To Address The Racism Built Into Our Roadways

White House correspondent April Ryan was recently ridiculed after she asked Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg questions about racism built into roads.

Buttigieg was answering questions regarding the bipartisan infrastructure bill that passed Congress last week during the White House press conference. Ryan used the opportunity to question Buttigieg on the Biden administration’s plans to deconstruct racism in America’s infrastructure.

Ryan was interested in plans to deconstruct racism built into the roads, even referring to an interview Buttigieg had given The Grio back in April when he stated that there is racism physically built onto some of our highways.

Buttigieg had said he was still amazed that some people were shocked when he pointed out the fact that a highway was constructed for the purpose to divide a White neighborhood or if an underneath pass was constructed so that a bus carrying predominantly Black and Puerto Rican children to a beach in New York was too low for it passes by, that clearly reflects racism.

Buttigieg replied during the press briefing that he doesn’t think they’ve got anything to lose by confronting this simple reality. He said he thinks we can all gain from acknowledging it and then dealing with it. That is why they are reconnecting the community that billion-dollar is something we want immediately to put to work.

Critics and Republicans piled on Ryan’s question to insinuate that roads were “racist”

Ted Cruz, R-Texas Sen., tweeted that the roads are racist and that we need to get rid of roads. Stephen Miller, a contributing editor to The Spectator, also ironically wrote that we should please make our roads less racist.

Ryan was criticized for her liberal biases and open cheering for Democrat officials. The CNN political analyst, Ryan, recently praised Obama’s former president in light of his memoir.
