Jimmy Kimmel Blames Sexism & Racism For Kamala Harris’ Historically Low Approval Rating

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel recently revealed that he believes racism and sexism are at least partially responsible for Vice President Kamala Harris’ historically low approval rating. Kimmel made a joke about Harris’ low approval rating during his opening monologue. He claimed it was because Harris basically has nothing to do but ultimately blamed “sexism, racism” in his comedic efforts.


Kimmel stated that Americans aren’t happy [Biden’s] Vice President Kamala Harris approval rating is 28%. He said this makes no sense since she has virtually nothing to do. He said it’s almost like criticizing a backup quarterback, adding a reference to Tom Brady and Blaine Gabbert’s legs being too folded over on the bench. He inferred it would be silly to criticize anyone sitting on the sidelines.


Kimmel noted that Harris’ approval rating, 28% according to a USA Today/Suffolk survey, was lower than Dick Cheney’s 2008 poll. This was after Harris accidentally shot someone while quail hunting.


Kimmel went on to say that he thinks he understands why Kamala’s ratings are low. He says it’s not sexism or racism, but that Kamala looks like an assassin whenever she is next to Joe Biden and stands near or behind him. He did not give any examples of why Harris’ approval rating would be so low.


Kimmel’s history of questionable portrayals of women has led to Harris’ low approval despite blaming sexism. He hosted “The Man Show” from 1999 to 2003. It celebrated and mocked male stereotypes. One of its most popular segments was when each show ended with “girls jumping onto trampolines.”


Harris’ approval rating is among the lowest among modern vice presidents. The majority of poll respondents disapprove of Harris’ job, with 51% disapproving and 21% undecided. The poll showed President Joe Biden doing slightly better with a 38% approval rating and 59% disapproval.
