Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s medical adviser, recently stated that it was only a matter of “when and not if” whether or not the definition of fully vaccinated would be expanded to include a third booster shot.
Pfizer’s chief scientific officer shared on CNN that he believes that Omicron means three doses. He was asked about the definition of fully vaccinated and if it needs to be changed?
Fauci stated that it’s almost a technical definition when someone asks, “Are you fully vaccinated in order to be able to attend classes at a college or university?” He says he doesn’t think that will change tomorrow, this week, and if you are talking about optimal protection, then he doubts doubt anyone would argue that it is possible to achieve optimal protection with just a third shot. It doesn’t matter if the definition is changed, Fauci believes that it will still be used literally every day. It’s always up for discussion.
CNN stated that this discussion had been going on for quite a while. This morning’s data has made me think about whether it is a matter of when or if the definition of fully vaccinated will change.
