The governor recently granted a last-minute exemption to San Francisco’s fully vaccinated offices and gyms.
The San Francisco Department of Public Health recently stated that CA PublicHealth had refined indoor masking requirements, which means places like gyms and workspaces with 100% fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to continue to remove masks.
Individuals who are fully vaccinated and meet indoors in places such as gyms, offices, or classes at colleges will be allowed to remove their masks.
The San Francisco Department of Public Health stated that refinement recognizes the hard work of San Francisco residents throughout the pandemic.
Local business owners rejoiced at the state’s exclusion and said they could not be happier with the end of the state’s mask order. Business owners stated that to have any disruption in the progress made over the past year and a quarter in getting customers back would be devastating.
Newsom order imposed an indoor mask mandate for all state residents, regardless of their vaccination status. It was in effect from the holiday season through January 15. This order was issued amid concerns about the coronavirus omicron variant, of which California has 24 cases.
This action targets California counties and cities that have ended their mask mandates since June when Newsom lifted them. Their mandates were not stopped in heavily populated areas such as Los Angeles County or parts of the Bay Area.
California’s Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly recognized that some municipalities might not be in compliance with the most recent wave of mandates.
San Francisco must still comply with state orders concerning mega-events. Events with more than 1,000 people will need to show proof of negative antigen or PCR tests.
