White House Says There Are A Range Of Reasons For Increase In Crime Stemming From COVID Pandemic

Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, recently stated that there has been an increase in crime and robberies throughout the country. Looters have targeted shops across the country, robbing them of thousands of dollars of merchandise in cities like San Fran, LA, and Chicago.

Psaki was questioned if cities have seen an increase in crime due to its “soft on crime” approach by its prosecutors.
Psaki stated that the White House is focused on what it can do to address it.

Psaki said that the president had suggested additional funding to ensure that local police departments receive the required funding. She stated that their current focus is action and making sure that funding goes to those who are most in need.

Psaki was also pressed to discuss specific criminal cases involving criminals released from prison and returning to the streets. A poll found that 61% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of crime. Psaki said that he had talked to the president about concerns regarding a retail theft.

The White House is pushing for cash bail elimination. The White House insists it will continue to push for cash bail elimination. The White House insists that only their threat to society should be used to determine whether or not to release them. It is not their willingness to bail, but their ability to do so.

A White House official stated last month that cash bail would not allow criminals to go on the streets. This simply means that bail should only be granted based upon your threat to public safety and not on how much money you have in your bank account. A government official stated that wealthy Americans should not have their own criminal justice system.

Psaki said earlier this month that the “root” causes of crime’s rise were COVID-19 and guns. Last week, Psaki said that violence and guns are the leading causes of crime in communities. Psaki also stated that many of the problems in communities are caused by the pandemic.

An official stated that this type of behavior was “completely unacceptable” and that they will use all resources to assist local authorities in cracking down on organized retail theft. The official stated that the FBI and Justice Department had been in touch with relevant jurisdictions in order to offer assistance in investigations.

Recently, the Department of Justice announced that San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, which have seen a lot of high-profile retail thefts, would receive funding from the $140million COPS program.
