Fully Vaccinated Sen. Romney Tests Positive for Coronavirus

According to a statement released by his office, Senator Mitt Romney (R.-UT) has been confirmed positive for coronavirus. The symptomatic Senator at 74 years old is fully vaccinated. Ann Romney, Romney’s wife tested negative for coronavirus.

Today, Senator Romney was positive for COVID-19. He is currently unresponsive and will continue to be isolated and remote-work for the recommended time. Mrs. Romney tested negative. Both Senator and Mrs. Romney were fully vaccinated against the virus and have received boosters.

Romney joins a group of legislators, which includes Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York (D-NY), and Rep. James Clyburn in South Carolina (D-SC), both of whom have recently tested positive for coronavirus.

249.4million people have been vaccinated with the coronavirus vaccine to date. This is more than three-quarters of the U.S. citizen population. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 64 percent of Americans have been fully vaccinated. More than 41 percent of those who have had booster shots have also received them.
