Al Sharpton Slams Pelosi’s Keep Quiet Warning To Olympic Athletes In Beijing

The Rev. criticized Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), House Speaker, for warning U.S. athletes not to talk about human rights abuses committed by Communist China. Al Sharpton.

Pelosi stated that athletes shouldn’t “run the risk of getting the anger from the Chinese government.”

Pelosi stated that the U.S. must confront China’s gross human rights violations and criticized the International Olympic Committee for allowing Beijing to host the Games. However, she said that athletes shouldn’t “run the risk of being angry at the Chinese government”.

These comments were criticized despite the fact that they acknowledged the U.S.’s “urgent moral obligation to shine a light on the communist regime’s abuses”.

Sharpton stated on MSNBC’s Morning Joe that Sharpton respectfully disagreed with the speaker — and she is usually supportive of me — because it’s impossible to normalize their behavior in China. Sharpton spoke on Friday. “To pretend that everything is fine is to normalize very brutal behavior.”

Sharpton stated, “We must let China know that human rights are non-negotiable in this world.”

These games are known as the Genocide Olympics because they are taking place in a country that holds over a million Muslims and other religious minorities in concentration camps. A poll found that 40 percent of respondents will not view the games as the Communist Chinese Party hosts them. This could make it the lowest-viewed game ever.
