NBC is allegedly refusing to air an advertisement by a Republican congressman that criticizes the sponsorship of several American corporations at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.
Rep. Mike Waltz (Republican from Florida) stated Saturday that NBC would not broadcast Enes Kanter Freedom’s Olympics advertisement with Boston Celtics player Enes Kater Freedom unless U.S. logos are censored.
Rep. Waltz stated in the advertisement that “The world’s most spectacular athletic showcase” was not the only thing happening.
The advertisement includes a list of U.S. companies, including Proctor & Gamble and Visa.
The Olympic Partner Programme is the highest level of Olympic sponsorship and includes all three companies.
Freedom declared, “Stand for Freedom, Defund the Diktators.”
Yaqiu Wang is a senior China researcher at Human Rights Watch and stated to Fox News Digital that China uses the Winter Olympic Games as a way of legitimizing its policies.
Wang stated that there were also many, you know, leaders in government, world leaders and even the head of [United Nations], who gave a speech at the opening ceremony. It’s a way of expressing gratitude for the opening ceremonies. It’s legitimizing its policies by using the game, of course. That’s undisputed.”
