Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, raised further concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. She used the word “war”, for the first time on Sunday during her visit to Munich. After a series meeting with European leaders, she said, “I mean, guys, let’s talk about the possibility of war in Europe.” Let’s take a minute to really understand what we’re discussing.
Harris was the spokesperson for the Biden administration in Germany at the Munich Security Conference. He delivered a speech pledging to support Europe against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Reporters were informed by the vice president of America that the administration’s goal was to unite America’s European allies for the sake “deterring Russia invading sovereign nations” and preparing for war.
She said, “We all know, including every country of Europe, what war looks like and what it can be for each of these countries.”
Harris met Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, privately on Saturday to plead for sanctions against Putin as a reaction to his invasion preparations.
“You tell me it’s 100% that the war will begin in a few days. Zelensky asked, “Then what are you waiting for?” “After the bombardment, which will occur, or after there are no borders to our country or after we have lost our economy, or after parts of our country have been occupied or fired at, we don’t need your sanction.”
Harris said that the Biden administration would not impose sanctions on Putin before he acted to trigger them.
She said, “We’re going to take this one minute at a time in regards to what might need happen in the future in regard of escalation.”
She warned Russia again about the extent and potential consequences of the sanctions.
She said, “When you look at the importance of these sanctions they are immense.”
Harris warned that the United States will likely face higher energy costs if sanctions are placed on Russia.
She stated, “We are conscious that America stands for principles and all of our things that we hold dear, sometimes it requires us to put ourselves out in a manner that might incur some cost and be in this situation,” That could be related to energy costs.
