Photos of Georgia’s gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams without a mask have surfaced. This could cast doubt on the claim of a spokesperson that Abrams only removed the mask when visiting the school in question.
Abrams was subject to a lot of backlashes after posting a picture of herself unmasked in front of many children. All of them are wearing masks to stop the spread of COVID-19. She visited Glennwood Elementary School in Atlanta last week. Later, a spokesperson suggested that the photo did not represent Abrams’ visit to the school. However, later photos disprove that statement.
Lauren Groh Wargo, a spokesperson for Abrams tweeted, “Stacey trusts science” “She wore a mask to this event and removed it at the podium,” Lauren Groh-Wargo, a spokeswoman for Abrams, wrote.
“Stacey Abrams wants mandates for the state government to Georgians and their kids,” Georgia’s Republican Governor. Brian Kemp tweeted the following weekend. It seems like they wouldn’t apply to her when she attends a photo op.”
In the meantime, Eric Adams, New York City Mayor, was seen wearing a mask in a New York restaurant. This is less than two weeks after Adams announced that the Big Apple would continue to require children to wear masks on school grounds.
Federal leaders such as Dr. Anthony Fauci were also seen in public without masks. Recent images of Elissa Slotkin, a Democratic Representative from Michigan, and Jamaal Bowman, a New Yorker, were exposed to the public, prompting online criticism.
