Pelosi Defends Biden’s Sanctions Against Tyrant Putin’s Invasion Of Ukraine

Published on

After a successful international diplomatic trip, Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, praised President Biden’s swift sanctions against Russia and warned that Vladimir Putin, the “tyrant”, should be prepared for more pain as he continues his hostilities towards Ukraine.

“It is amazing to see a dictator roll into a country in this day and age. Pelosi spoke Wednesday about Putin, referring to the same tyrant that attacked our democracy in 2016.

Following a hectic congressional trip, Pelosi held an informal conference. This included stops in Israel and the United Kingdom for the Munich Security Conference. She stated that Putin’s actions brought NATO allies closer together and that they agreed to impose swift, severe sanctions on Russia.

“This, my friends is our moment. “This is the Sudetenland,” Pelosi stated in reference to Adolf Hilter, a former Nazi leader who pushed into Czechoslovakia’s Sudetenland region. This was before World War II. “That’s what people in Munich were saying.” It is impossible to ignore the actions of Putin. It is obvious that no one is going to ignore it. It is a complete assault on democracy that you can’t take lightly.

Russia sent troops to Ukraine Monday, as Putin declared that he would recognize independence for two separatist regions despite diplomatic pressures from the Biden administration and NATO allies.

Biden Tuesday continued with the “first tranche of sanctions” against Russia. He also pledged to increase more sanctions if Russia “goes further with this invasion.” Allies also responded with Germany declaring a halt on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline coming from Russia.

Pelosi stated that she respected Biden’s judgment and that the international community should be united in its response, despite calls from Republicans to have the U.S. impose pre-invasion sanctions. Pelosi declined to answer questions from reporters about whether Russia was deterred by the international response.

Pelosi stated, “I think that you are honestly wasting your time with something that is after the fact.” Pelosi and California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff both indicated that sanctions against Putin will increase. Pelosi stated, “We haven’t seen the depths of these sanctions yet.”

Pelosi said, “This is a very bad move by Vladimir Putin.” He also stated that sanctions could be used to punish Putin and his oligarchs. “He is a KGB man who happens to be the richest man on the planet because of the exploitation of his people.”
