Biden To Announce $1 Billion In Military Aide To Ukraine

Biden will announce more than $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine. According to Wall Street Journal reporting, the $1 billion will be used for military equipment that the Ukrainian military found most useful in the ongoing war against Russia. This funding will be made possible by the $13 billion allotted to Ukraine by the Omnibus Bill signed this week.

This funding comes at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address Congress Wednesday. He is expected to present a list of equipment that the Ukrainians believe they need to resist the Russian invasion.

According to the New York Times, the list is not intended to replace Ukraine’s request for MiG fighter planes from Poland. This effort has been stopped by the United States amid concerns that it could increase tensions between NATO members Russia.

According to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, “The intelligence community has determined that the transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine may be mistakenly escalatory” and could lead to significant Russian reactions that might increase the chances of a military escalation against NATO. Kirby spoke last week. “We also consider the MiG-29s that will be sent to Ukraine high-risk.”

The new request for Ukraine’s assistance will include weapons to help troops on ground, such as anti-tank Javelin and Stinger missiles. This request could also include additional assistance, such as armed drones or communication jamming devices.

Zelenskyy appealed to the Canadian Parliament to make a similar appeal on Tuesday. However, he appealed to Canadian lawmakers to support a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Zelensky stated to Canadian lawmakers, “Imagine that Canadian buildings have been bombed in the same way as our memorial places and buildings are being bombed.” “A lot of families have lost their loved ones.” Each night is a terrible night.

“We want life, and we want victory.” He said, “We want to win for the sake of our lives.” Can you picture when you call your nations and friends and ask them to please shut down the skies, airspace and stop bombing? “How many cruise missiles will you need to drop on our cities before this happens?”
