Oregon’s Democrat Governor. Kate Brown criticizes Texas Governor. Greg Abbott was criticized for his controversial directive directing investigations into cases in which children were subject to gender transition procedures.
“Texas Gov. Brown posted a tweet on Thursday stating that Greg Abbott’s decision not to take trans children from their loving parents was particularly cruel. “This policy is yet another in a long, painful history of discriminatory policies against our LGBTQ2SIA+ communities.”
“To all LGBTQ2SIA+ youth and children across the United States. Brown said, “I want you to know you are seen, loved, and matter.” “And all Oregon’s youth, particularly those who are transgender, nonbinary or questioning, know that the state of Oregon is committed to protecting and honoring your right to be you.”
Brown’s message came just days after the Biden administration publicly attacked Texas over the directive. They also updated HHS guidelines and sent a letter to child welfare agencies across America in opposition to it.
Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) recently directed DFPS to investigate instances in which Texas children were subject to “a wide range of elective procedures to gender transitioning,” including reassignment surgery that can cause sterilization, removal of otherwise healthy body parts and administration of puberty blocking drugs or supraphysiologic amounts of testosterone or estrogen.
Fox News reported this week from Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General, that the state was protecting children against dangerous operations.
Brown’s tweet was mocked on social media. Many wondered aloud about Brown’s use of “LGBTQ2SIA+”, which is a term that some use to group lesbians, gay, bisexuals, transgenders, queers, two spirit, intersex and asexual individuals.
Jon Levine, New York Post reporter, tweeted “LGBT is The Pi of Acronyms”.
Kira Davis, Red State editor, posted: “I only saw this video to hear her speak LGBTQ2SIA+ out of loud.”
