Brendan Carr, FCC commissioner, refused to be contacted by a leftist think tank asking him to intervene in Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter. He called the concerns “frivolous.” ”
Open Markets Institute, leftist-run organisation, issued a press statement yesterday asking the FCC and FTC to stop the purchase of Twitter. Musk’s purchase “poses many immediate and direct threats to American democracy and freedom of speech,” it stated. ”
The Open Markets Institute didn’t attempt to explain Musk’s doublespeak claim that Musk represents a threat to freedom of speech, despite his promise to reinstate free speech on Twitter following years of leftist-ledcensorship.
Commissioner Carr replied via the FCC, to the FCC, and said that the position taken by leftist think tanks is “absurd”.
Carr stated that the FCC doesn’t have the power to prevent Elon Musk purchasing Twitter. It would be absurd to suggest otherwise. ”
Carr said that the FCC doesn’t have the authority to prevent Musk from buying Twitter. ”
The deal between Elon Musk and Twitter has provoked furious reactions from the left and its allies within the nonprofit and institutional media.
A far-left Senator Ed Markey (D.MA), called for the government’s intervention to end the deal. Leftists threatened to boycott the station while others claimed that white supremacy was involved.
