Piers Morgan Viewership Crashes After Deceptively Edited Interview Promo

Piers Morgan’s TalkTV show has seen a drop in viewership in the first few days. Executives at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation are now discussing how bad he is. Others are already privately comparing Piers Morgan’s disaster launch to the failed and short-lived CNN+ streaming service.

Morgan’s interview of former President Donald Trump during Piers Morgan Uncensored on the first two nights seems to have boosted ratings at the launch. On Monday, Morgan was viewed by nearly 400,000 people. Morgan’s interview with former President Donald Trump on Piers Morgan Uncensored was a huge success. However, by Tuesday, Morgan had lost all interest and his viewers dropped to 215,900. Morgan was then reduced to 123,000 viewers on the third day after Trump’s interview.

This means that Morgan has seen a 70% drop in viewers in two days. It seems like Morgan is losing relevance and interest quickly after Taylor Budowich, Trump’s top communications aide, thwarted Morgan’s attempt to edit a misleading interview promo.

Morgan’s failures could also be decimating TalkTV network efforts, as Sharon Osbourne, his Wednesday guest on TalkTV — who also has her own show there — saw her ratings drop after appearing with the British broadcaster.

Last week’s original 30-second clip made it seem that Trump stormed off set during an interview upset by Morgan’s questions about 2020. However, Morgan’s promotional clip was deceptively edited by Budowich, Trump’s communications director. The audio of the end of the interview proved that it was deceptively edited to portray Trump storming off. Trump didn’t do such a thing. The interview ended in fact with Morgan thanking Trump and discussing Trump’s recent hole in one alongside Ernie Els.

Morgan attacked Budowich repeatedly in Twitters after the spat. But it seems that Budowich and Trump are having the last laugh as Morgan’s failures spiral his show. Many are already comparing Morgan’s launch to CNN+ which was a failed streaming service that CNN shut down just weeks after it launched despite investing hundreds of millions.

Breitbart News was told by a media strategist that “I don’t know what he was thinking.” He launched a show that was aimed at right-of-center audiences, but he deceptively edited his trailer to embarrass Trump. Before his show aired, he lost all credibility among his target audience. Now, the question is: Will he survive longer than CNN+? “I don’t believe so.”

Breitbart News was told by a second media strategist that conversations are taking place at Fox News and its parent company News Corporation about Morgan’s conduct. The executives are also “embarrassed” and aren’t sure how they can save the show. According to this source, these conversations intensified after Tucker Carlson, Fox News’ star, appeared on Morgan’s show Wednesday night to promote the show and raise Morgan — though Carlson was unable generate enthusiasm or support among potential viewers.

Some say Morgan’s social media engagement has become “pathetic”, according to Morgan:

A lot more is happening. Morgan’s appearances have been cancelled by high-profile guests like Caitlyn Jenner due to Trump’s legal dispute. Jenner was, as per her Fox News contributor contract with Fox, forced to appear on Thursday. Morgan has instead promoted content such as alpacas on the program.

Morgan seems to be slipping from a 70% drop in viewers within a few days.

Morgan’s long history of failures on both sides is evident. Morgan, a former CNN anchor, also committed suicide multiple times in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Breitbart News was informed by Morgan, a former executive at The Apprentice who won Celebrity Apprentice 2008, that Morgan’s latest failure is not surprising.

“Piers Morgan is a washed-up, has-been. Some overproduced and over edited promo trailer won’t change that. The former Apprentice executive stated that he was able to go from “Uncensored” to “Unwatched” in three days.

Morgan’s former employer CNN published an article saying Morgan had “just handed Donald Trump an easy victory” in the wake the revelations that he had deceptively edited the Trump interview promo video.
