Authorities suspect Nicholas Roske of plotting to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Before calling 911, he texted his sister.

According to a criminal complaint, Roske was carrying a firearm and ammunition when he was taken into custody near Kavanaugh’s Maryland home by Montgomery County Police Department officers.

Marcus Jones, Montgomery County Police chief Marcus Jones said that the suspect arrived in a taxi after watching the U.S. marshals. The suspect then turned around to contemplate his next move, Jones said to the Washington Post. He was convinced by her to dial 911.

Roske said during the call that his thoughts were “thoughts” and that he had traveled from California to “act on them.” Roske replied that he had access to weapons when asked about his firearm. It was unloaded and in a bag that was zip-tied shut.

When asked if he needed medical attention, he replied that he needed psychiatric treatment.

Roske called 911 and the police arrived on the scene quickly.

It is unknown what Roske and his sister exchanged in their text chat. However, police believe it was what made him abandon his plans to murder the Supreme Court justice.

Roske later confessed to police that he was disturbed by a leaked Supreme Court opinion that suggested that the court was ready for Roe v. Wade to be repealed. Roske also said that he believed Kavanaugh would vote to loosen gun control laws and that he was very upset about the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Following the arrest, Roske’s neighbor in California said law enforcement officials raided Roske’s home.

“Can’t believe the dude who wanted to kill Brett Kavanaugh was my neighbor,” tweeted David Burgett, who filmed the video from his driveway.
