Randi Weingarten (president of the leftwing American Federation of Teachers union) stated at Saturday’s March for Our Lives rally, Washington, DC that teachers should be trusted with guns to make decisions about what students learn.
Weingarten spoke at an event that was organized by survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. She used the opportunity to criticize lawmakers and parents who don’t want to be involved in decisions about how public schools are taught.
Weingarten, along with other speakers, took part in an event that was planned following a Texas school shooting last month that left 19 students and 2 teachers dead. Weingarten asked Congress to solve the problem of disarming and detecting people who plan a massacre while opposing increased security in schools.
She called on people, like other speakers, to fight for their Second Amendment rights.
Weingarten quoted Mary Harris Jones “Mother”, an activist and organizer for miners in the early 20th centuries.
