Florida Sheriff Announces School Officers Will Carry Long Guns To Meet Violence With Violence

Wayne Ivey, Sheriff of Brevard County, announced this week that all officers working in county schools will have long guns and be ready to “meet violence and violence” and win.

Florida Today quoted Ivey as saying that “You’re not coming into our schools and killing our children.”

Ivey uploaded a Facebook video in which he stated that officers would carry long guns to save time and avoid running to a squad vehicle to retrieve the firearm in an attack.

The video shows a Kel Tec Sub 2000 long gun, which is a carbine in a pistol caliber.

The Sub 2000 folds in half. Officers can then put it on a strap and hang it in front of their bodies.
