Critics Erupt On Biden After Sick Comment On Semi-Automatic Gun Purchases

After he spoke out against semi-automatic weapons being purchased, President Biden was met with intense criticism on Thanksgiving.

Biden spoke at a Nantucket press conference, Massachusetts, about recent Colorado mass shootings and reiterated his support for gun restrictions.

Biden stated that the idea of semi-automatic weapons being purchased was sick. “Just sick. It is not socially redeemable. Zero. None. There is no other reason than profit for gun manufacturers.

The reporter asked Biden if it would be possible to move on gun legislation while Republicans control the House in next Congress. He replied that he would do so as soon as he counts the votes.

Biden stated, “I’m going try.” “I will try to get rid assault weapons.”

Popular Twitter users pointed out the fact that semi-automatic guns typically include handguns and rifles as well as shotguns. These accounts account for a significant portion of gun sales in the U.S.

Hollywood actor James Woods tweeted, “So basically all guns are on Big Guy’s chop block.”

“Wow. “Wow. Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, asked.

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) stated that Biden “maligns most gun owners” by his stance on firearm purchase and pointed out that Americans rejected gun control measures proposed by Nancy Pelosi, D.Calif.

The Missouri’s 4th Congressional district U.S. Rep.-elect Mark Alford called Biden’s stance on guns “sheer ignorance” and cited an article that noted that semi-automatic guns account for half of all gun sales in America.

Other right-leaning users on Twitter also criticized the president’s comments regarding gun purchases.

Biden’s call to ban assault weapons earlier this year was rejected by Republicans. Nearly two dozen GOP senators, however, resisted the gun lobby to push a bipartisan gun bill.

The House is controlled by Democrats with a narrow margin, except for January. The Senate is divided 50-50 between the two parties. To pass a comprehensive gun control package, including an assault weapon ban, at least 10 GOP supporters will be required to overcome the Senate’s 60 vote filibuster threshold.
