Democrat Election Denier Hakeem Jeffries Elected House Minority Leader

After repeatedly denying the legitimacy of the 2016 election, House Democrats elected Hakeem Jeffries (D–NY) to be the minority leader.

Jeffries, 52-year-old Jeffries is a Brooklyn lawyer who will now be leading the House Democrats. This comes after Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, left earlier this month to make room for a “new generation” to lead the Democratic Caucus.

Jeffries was unopposed for the post and became history by being the first election denier to win a caucus of a political party in either chamber. Jeffries was also the first black congressman elected to serve as a minority leader.

New York Congressman, who was first elected to Congress in 2013, has been the Chair of the House Democrat Caucus ever since 2019.

Jeffries said Tuesday night that “This is a time of transition.” We stand on the shoulders giants but we also look forward to doing what’s needed at this time to advance the issues.”

Jeffries has denied the legitimacy and validity of American elections at least nine times. Jeffries falsely claimed that the 2016 election was “illegitimate” and that former President Donald Trump was made president “artificially”.

Jeffries claimed in 2019 that there was a “cloud o’ illegitimacy” that continued to hang over Trump’s administration, and that Democrats should “try the hell out what happened.”

He tweeted that Trump’s 2020 presidency would never be recognized as legitimate. He said that history would never accept Trump as a legitimate president.

Pelosi is in agreement with Jeffries’ election-denying rhetoric on the 2016 election. Pelosi claimed in 2017 that “[o]ur election had been hijacked.” There is no question.”

Jeffries will now work with top lieutenants to manage the Democrat Caucus. Rep. Katherine Clark (D.MA), who was elected minority whip and Rep. Pete Aguilar, (D.CA), who took the third-most powerful post as Democrat Caucus chairman.
