Marvel Went from a Take It or Leave It Brand to a Leave It Brand With Wakanda Forever

I’m done with the “M-She U” affectionately called because Disney/Marvel effectively took the most beloved superhero universe in the world and made it a propaganda talkie infused with CGI.

I saw Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness not too long ago and was a little ambivalent about it. Although I enjoyed the Sam Raimi-esque movie, I was also disappointed by what I saw as an intrusion on Disney’s commitment to social justice and political commentary.

A fascinating plot that could have been exciting was made a mess by adherence to narratives that put weak men in the background so stronger women could drive it. It led to ridiculous plotlines and characters who never lived up to fans’ expectations.

This was also true in Thor: Love and Thunder, where the character named after him is downplayed to make room for the women who surround him. The MCU was losing popularity by this point, and the third Thor movie failed to make it into the theaters.

Although I was curious about the film, I never got to the point where I could take my wife to Alamo Drafthouse. All the information I had received from trusted sources said that the new Thor movie was filled with plot holes, poor character development, and bizarre decisions. I chose to skip it and go the sensible way.

We’re now at Black Panter’s latest entry, “Wakanda forever”, and I feel exactly what movie studios fear most.

I don’t care.

Because of Disney/Marvel’s inability to write solid stories due to strict adherence to a political philosophy that appeals only to a select few, I don’t have plans to see Wakanda Forever.

It’s much more. According to what I have seen from trusted sources, the movie seems to respect Chadwick Boseman’s death. The movie’s beginning pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman, but that respect is short-lived when they use his death to promote more feminist narratives.

They recast the character and put a woman in his shoes, making the Black Panther a feminist hero. Men can be either background characters or bad men, but even then some of the bad guys may just be walking billboards for leftist narratives.

Courtney Michelle, a YouTuber, sums up her disgust at the movie and its effects on women (especially young African women) in this short video.

We see Disney/Marvel following a pattern I call “blatant disrespect.”

They disregard the original material by changing established lore or characters to suit their political views.

They disrespect their audience by taking the escape that they are looking for and pulling the rug out from underneath them to preach these politics either directly or in indirect ways.

They discredit Chadwick Boseman and take advantage of his passing to push politics. They take his mantle and give it to someone less worthy and less believable.

They make men feel inferior by making them weaker or more evil. This makes the movie less interesting and predictable.

If they don’t care about making a quality product, then I don’t want to see it. And when I say that I don’t care, I mean I have lost the ability or excitement to learn more about new material they might produce. The same thing happened with Star Wars and Doctor Who.

These people feel compelled to push their ideas on others. They tell themselves that their failures were just the result of ignorant, biased people. The continued bastardization and rehashing of their favorite stories and characters is essential for a world that they consider “better.”
