Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder, became visibly uneasy when a reporter asked him about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview with ABC Australia reporter Sarah Ferguson, Gates was asked Monday if he regrets having “maintained” a romantic relationship with Epstein “despite Melinda’s advice and wishes.” This refers to his ex-wife Melinda French Gates.
Gates was clearly annoyed and uncomfortable by the question. He admitted that he does.
Gates stated, “I said I’m–this is going way back, but yeah, I will say for over 100th times, yeah, I shouldn’t have had dinners with them.”
Ferguson continued pushing the issue despite his reticence. Ferguson asked Melinda if Melinda had warned Gates not to put himself in this position, noting that Epstein was a sexually compromising person.
“No, I mean it—” Gates responded before taking a brief pause. “No. I had dinner with him and that’s all.”
Ferguson inquired if Gates regretted any connections between Epstein’s charitable endeavors and Epstein. Gates refuted that such a relationship existed.
The New York Times however claimed in a 2019 infamous story that Gates and Epstein had some kind of relationship.
According to interviews with over a dozen people who were familiar with the relationship and documents reviewed by The New York Times, Mr. Gates had met Mr. Epstein several times since 2011.
Gates denied that he was Epstein’s friend. He said last year that Epstein’s meeting was a “huge error.”
Melinda Gates confessed in an interview that Epstein was someone she once met. She described Epstein as “evil personified” and she warned Gates repeatedly about meeting him.
She said, “I didn’t like that Bill had meetings with Jeffrey Epstein.” He understood that I was stating it. Jeffrey Epstein was also a man I met once. I was curious to meet this man, and it was a regrettable decision that I made the moment I entered the room.
