Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis responded to criticisms he received from former President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Trump claimed that DeSantis, whom he had previously called “Ron DeSanctimonious”, was wrongly guided in Florida’s COVID-19 pandemic policy.
“There are Republican governors who did not close their states. Florida was shut down for a prolonged time.” Trump stated this to reporters. They’re trying to rewrite the history.”
Trump claimed that DeSantis is owed his success to Trump’s administration, and that a hypothetical presidential run would be insulting.
Trump stated, “Ron wouldn’t have been governor if he wasn’t for my support.” “I find it very disloyal to hear that he might run.”
DeSantis was questioned about Trump’s remarks during a press conference.
Henry Rodgers, a Daily Caller reporter, stated that Trump has criticised you several times over the past few days on a variety of issues. One of these is COVID in America.
“Look, I’d just like to say this. “I roll out of bed, people are attacking me from all sides,” said the Florida governor. It’s been going on for many, many decades. It’s been happening for many, many years. You have to steer the ship.
DeSantis said, “And the great thing is that people can render a judgement on that, regardless of whether they reelect or not.” And I’m happy that I can say, you know. In my case, we not only won reelection but we also received the highest percentage vote of any Republican governor candidate in the history Florida.
Trump was the clear front-runner for the GOP nomination in 2024. In a few national polls released last month, Trump was trailed by DeSantis. His standing among conservatives has increased over the past three year.
In November, DeSantis was overwhelmingly elected for a second term as Florida’s leader. Florida is a once-battleground state that has become increasingly red over the past two cycles.
