Admitting you have a problem is the first step in fixing it. Except, of course, if you are in the Biden administration. Next, you can blame someone else.
It would seem that Biden and Co. finally want to address the crisis at the southern border. But there’s a catch. It’s not the administration’s fault. It’s never been.
Alejandro Mayorkas, DHS Secretary, admitted Wednesday that there was an illegal immigration problem. Fox News reports that Mayorkas did not use the term “illegal” but blamed someone else. Mayorkas was asked about his plans for dealing with illegal immigrants after Title 42 ends during a Wednesday interview/talking point briefing with The Washington Post. Mayorkas said:
It is clear that our system is being strained by the increasing number of border encounters. This is a fact that everyone agrees with. The problem is that we can’t agree on a solution. A solution is long overdue. We are working within the current broken immigration system to manage the number of encounters and are ready to address Title 42. This has been our goal since last year.
But don’t let your hopes get too high. Mayorkas says Congress must pass immigration legislation. This will include… Amnesty is guaranteed to immigrants so they can begin a path to citizenship over eight years. Mayorkas supports it partly because of the U.S. labor shortage.
There are 10 million jobs available in the United States. I was interested in what Canada is doing about a million unfilled jobs. To fill the labor shortage, they’re bringing in 1.3 million immigrants. On day one, President Biden presented a comprehensive package. But it hasn’t happened yet.
See? It’s too good to be true.
While Nixon was the only one who could travel to China, Biden has been unable to cross the border. This seems to have changed. It’s kind of. Technically, he is actually going to Mexico to meet President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador as well as Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. The trio will make immigration a top priority. Biden and Trudeau are now together. Either they will summon a demon to have a policy discussion or Trudeau will spend around 15 minutes listening and giving Biden a pamphlet on the assisted suicide policy Canada so eagerly uses.
According to ABC News, Biden stated that he plans to travel to the border. Details are still unclear. The word “intends” is also ambiguous. Does this mean that Biden will be looking out of Air Force One’s window as it passes across the border? Is his motorcade going to drive by it at top speed? Or will he simply forget to go to the border because he is only going to do so? Compare that to Donald Trump who visited the border five more times during his presidency.
DHS has declared that we have a problem, and that amnesty is the solution. Biden may–MAY -go to the border. *Sigh.
