I have waited all day for the bodycam footage to finally reveal what happened at Paul Pelosi’s house last October, when David DePape, a Berkeley nudist attacked Pelosi with an axe. Judge Murphy ordered that the footage be released yesterday. The clerk’s office was given the task. I called the clerk’s office several times this morning to inquire about the location of the footage and when it would be released. After no response and no information, I finally reached someone by phone. They told me that they had been instructed to not answer any questions regarding the footage, but instead to forward all calls to Ken Garcia, their media contact.
“We have been given instructions on this case to send any messages or phone calls to Ken Garcia. I will leave a message for him and hope he will call me back.”
Garcia didn’t answer his phone all morning and his voicemail went straight to voicemail. I left a final voicemail to ask him for commentary on why Garcia’s office ignored a court order and media inquiries. He called me back five minutes later to say that he could not get a copy of the order. Garcia stated that media cannot file a request electronically with the court. All forms must be completed by hand and submitted to the office in person.
It is interesting to note that the clerk’s office was specifically instructed not to answer questions regarding this case. Why? Why is it impossible for the United States court to offer digital files in 2023? It makes sense!
We will all need to rely on San Francisco’s local media to capture the footage and then release it to everyone else. They will.
