Special Counsel Robert Hur Worked With Rod Rosenstein

Robert Hur, the Special Counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Galrland to investigate President Joe Biden’s mishandling classified information, was one of the Justice Department employees who knew about the Russia hoax against former President Donald Trump.

A Justice Department document states that Hur was a former DOJ official who “handled, participated in or had personal knowledge” of Christopher Steele’s relationships and communications with the FBI. Steele is the author of the notorious dossier that led to the Russia hoax.

After graduating from Harvard and Stanford, Hur started his career as a clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Hur was appointed as principal deputy attorney general and “acted as the top aide of Rod J. Rosenstein,” the deputy attorney General under President Donald Trump. According to the Washington Post, Hur had previously been Christopher A. Wray’s special assistant at the time, and went on to become director of the FBI.

Rosenstein released a press release announcing Hur’s appointment, extolling his “experience and judgment [that] will enhance our efforts to deter criminality, promote the rule law and ensure equal justice for all.”

Trump nominated Hur in 2018 to lead the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office. In March 2018, Hur was unanimously approved by the Senate.

According to a Justice Department press release, Hur “brought and settled corruption and/or fraud charges against dozens of elected officials and public office holders,” according the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office.

According to reports, Maryland’s U.S. Attorney’s Office was one of the busiest during Hur’s time. Hur represented a former contractor of the National Security Agency who allegedly stole classified data from the federal government. According to reports, the theft was the largest ever of classified documents in American history.

Hur left the U.S. Attorney’s Office in February 2021 and joined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, a global legal office that handles white-collar criminal matters and regulatory matters. According to the website, the law firm has 1,800 lawyers working in 20 offices located in major cities across the United States, Europe and the Middle East, Asia, South America.

On Thursday, Hur was appointed as a special prosecutor. This comes after Republicans criticized Biden’s double standard in justice. Garland appointed a special counsel to probe Trump’s actions two weeks after Biden’s classified papers were discovered at the Penn Biden Center. After classified documents were discovered at Biden’s home, Garland appointed Hur.

“The double standard of corrupt FBI and DOJ, which have been weaponized towards Joe Biden’s political enemies could not be more obvious,” Rep. Elise Stefanik (R.NY), third highest ranking House Republican, stated to Breitbart News.

“The American people are seeing classified documents being uncovered at Joe Biden’s ‘think tank’ and Joe Biden’s garage. But they have yet to witness the same action taken in this way by these agencies against President Donald Trump,” she said.

James Comer, Republican of Kentucky, Chair of the House Oversight Committee stated that “With or Without a Special Counsel, the House Oversight and Accountability Committee would investigate President Biden’s mishandling classified documents.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R.CO), who was barely reelected in 2022, stated that she hopes the special counsel wasn’t just created to cover Biden’s wrongdoing. Let’s hope that this is more than a mere cover-up.
