89-Year-Old Senator of California Dianne Feinstein Makes Major Announcement

Dianne Feinstein, a long-serving Democratic Senator from California, who has served in office for over three decades, won’t be running for reelection in 2024.

Feinstein released a statement saying that she will not be running for reelection in 2024, but plans to do as much as possible for California through next year’s end.

The senator, now 89, was elected to office in November 1992. She will be 90 in December. GOP Senator Chuck Grassley, from Iowa, is just three months older than Feinstein and has won another six-year term in the 2022 election.

California Democratic Representatives Adam Schiff and Katie Porter announced Senate bids last month. Both lawmakers applauded Feinstein Tuesday.

“Dianne Feinstein has been one of our most respected legislators. Her legacy is defined by her work, which includes the torture report, gun safety advocacy, and championing LGBTQ+ rights. Schiff tweeted that we are grateful for her leadership. “Senator Feinstein, the longest-serving female senator, is a trailblazer & her achievements are incredible. We look forward to continuing our work in combatting wildfires, protecting open spaces, and fighting gun violence. “We’re all indebted Dianne for her distinguished services,” Schiff wrote in a tweet to another account.

“Senator Dianne Feinstein has had an extraordinary career serving the people in California. She set the path for women in politics, and I am proud to be a part of it. Porter tweeted, “I thank the Senator for all her leadership and appreciate everything she has done for our state.”

Reporters were told that Feinstein said nothing about an endorsement.

The 2024 U.S. Senate election in the Golden State will be held simultaneously with the 2024 presidential elections.

Although President Joe Biden indicated his intention to run for the presidency, he has yet to make an official announcement.

Trump, the former President, announced last year that Trump is running again. He will likely face many challenges during the Republican primary.

Republican Nikki Haley announced on Tuesday that she is throwing her hat into the ring. Haley, who served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations during a portion of Trump’s presidency, had previously served as South Carolina governor.
