Everybody who is paying attention to American society today is aware that something is seriously wrong. We must stop wasting time and look for real solutions.

Take, for example, a Monday article by WCBI (a Columbus-based Miss. A woman from Arkansas was arrested for making threats to Oxford, according to a TV station. Oxford Police informs us that a woman from Arkansas is facing charges for making threats to Rebel territory with bombs.

It’s okay. The story also features Lily Mestemacher, a photo of Ms. Mestemacher is actually Mr. Mestemacher as the keen reader will notice. The man is a scruffy, dark-haired man who has about one week of growth. He grins strangely. His thick chest hair is visible in his orange prison v-neck.

Who is the crazier?

Taylor Schabusiness is a prime example of mental instability. Taylor Schabusiness is an example of mental instability.

Ms. Schabusiness was said to have been in a relationship with Shad Thyrion. She “allegedly decapitated Thyrion while having sexual relations.” She continued to perform sexual acts on Thyrion’s dead body, then she mutilated Thyrion’s head with a serrated bread knife. His mother was to take the rest of his body.

Methamphetamine is clearly a deadly drug. Taylor Schabusiness is clearly a dangerous drug. Since she was seven years old, she has been receiving mental healthcare treatment.

Taylor Schabusiness is 25. It’s nearly half her life. Judeo-Christian ideas that encourage people to not be too self-centered and instead focus on their pleasures may have been more effective.

While she hooked up with the unfortunate Shad Thyrion, Taylor Schabusiness was, we’re told, married to another man. (What do you call a man married to a woman like this? “Stew.”) Did anyone ever tell her that she would find greater personal fulfillment within her marriage than she would in meth-fueled sex romps with random strangers and serrated bread knives? Almost certainly not. That would have been passé, not to mention cisnormative or whatever.

Lily Mestemacher and Taylor Schabusiness are two recent indications of the massive failure of our secular and self-centered culture. They are fresh indications that the ways in which all too many people are told that they can find happiness and peace actually lead them to just the opposite. But these two won’t, unfortunately, by any means be the last examples of this.
