Friday’s criticism of President Joe Biden for his claim that he had inherited high levels of inflation at the time he took office was harsh. His administration saw inflation rise to 9.1 percent last year, which was a record for the country, and a new forty-year high. Inflation was just 1.4 percent when he became president.
Biden addressed reporters at the White House regarding the January jobs report. “Do you accept any responsibility for inflation, Mr. President?”
“Do you take any responsibility for the inflation?” “No,” replied the president.
The reporter asked “Why not?”
“Because it existed already when I arrived, man. Do you remember how the economy looked when you arrived? Inflation was increasing, jobs were disappearing. Here, we weren’t producing a single thing. We were in serious economic trouble. This is why I don’t. “Thank you,” Biden replied, and then he left the podium as reporters continued to shout at him.
“If legacy media weren’t populated overwhelmingly with leftists, they would explode over this brazen lie. “Inflation was at 1.4% per year until Joe Biden demanded his name on a stimulus package that the country didn’t need,” Duane Patterson tweeted.
Liz Wolfe, Reason associate editor, stated, “I’m certain all the mainstream media fact-checkers WILL HOP RIGHT TO IT. But let’s be very clear: Inflation was at 1.4% when Biden took office in January 2021.”
John Cooper, Heritage Foundation communications officer, also pointed out that inflation was 1.4% at the time Biden assumed office. It is still 5x higher now than it was before.”
“Nope. It wasn’t there, and it started after the passage the incontinental American Rescue Plan, which was only passed by Democrats in early 2021,” Townhall editor Katie Pavlich tweeted.
“President @JoeBiden claims he is not responsible for #inflation despite having approved massive spending in budget years 2021-2022. “He is lying or really dumb about the causes of inflation,” Nick Gillespie from Reason said.
“So Biden takes credit for the current job markets (where he is able to take over at the end of COVID restrictions), while lying about the state of the inflation crisis when he took control… Seems legit conservative journalist John Ziegler stated with an angry emoticon.
“Biden just stated that he does not accept responsibility for the high inflation in our country. He is dead wrong, and he knows that,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) tweeted.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) tweeted: “Biden claims he takes no blame for America’s inflation crisis.” Perhaps his memory is not as bad as people think.
Jason Rantz, a talk-radio host on KTTH AM770, referred to the president as a “pathological liar”.
Paul Zeise, 93.7 Fan host, argued that “This guy doesn’t live in reality and is just delusional about it.”
A Fox News poll found that 80 percent of Americans think the economy is in fair to poor condition. Only 20% say it’s in good or excellent. This poll also showed that a majority of Democrats dissatisfied about the country’s direction.
