Deion Sands, a legendary football coach, and the new University of Colorado head coach is currently under the wing of the Godless Gestapo. The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a militant atheist group is targeting Coach Prime to discuss Christianity with his players.
Phil DiStefano was the University of Colorado’s Chancellor. The FFRF complained that Sanders was better to sit down than praying at meetings.
According to the letter, “Multiple concerned Colorado residents contacted FFRF informing them that Deion Sanders (CU’s new football coach) has been infusing his program with Christianity and engaging in religious exercises with players and staff members. “It is our understanding that a staff member led others to Christian prayer in order to open an official meeting on December 20, 2022. ”
Once you’ve picked yourself up off the fainting couch, there’s more.
The atheists claim that Coach Sanders instructed a coach to lead coaches and players through Christian prayer prior to a team meeting on January 16, 20,23.
Here’s the dangerously theological prayer: “Lord!” Father, we thank You for this opportunity and for giving us the chance to be together. ”
Oh, my word! Would you like to thank God for all? He’s so brave!
The FFRF cites a variety of court cases as well as its “Pray To Play” report, which was published in 2015. It laments coaches who openly discuss their faith or hire chaplains to do the dirty work.
The report states that “The true purpose and effect these Chaplaincies are [sic] to impose the coach’s religion on his players.” ”
In a letter, the FFRF Karens stated that Sanders must understand that he was hired to coach football and not as a pastor. The FFRF requested a written reply from the university.
Fox News reported that the University of Colorado replied to the FFRF approximately a week later. It said that Sanders was “very willing to receive this training and left it with an improved understanding of the University of Colorado’s policies and The Establishment Clause requirements. ”
A second letter, this one from First Liberty Institute, arrived at FFRF’s office. This institute has rushed for Sanders’ defense. It was First Liberty Institute that successfully represented Kennedy v. Bremerton in the Supreme Court.
The letter stated that the Freedom from Religion Foundation had misrepresented the First Amendment requirements for public school employees’ religious expression. “The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled public school employees are allowed to engage in religious expression and exercise. Coach Sanders and any other member of the football staff cannot be targeted by public universities such as CU for exercising their constitutional rights. ”
Sanders attributes his Christian faith to help him overcome many problems. He shared how God helped Him through difficult surgery.
Sanders said, “I cannot walk alone. People have had to help. I replied, “Lord, I thank you.” “Prime, how can you say, Lord, I thank You, when it’s so difficult for you to do so?” Because I’m still alive.
The public also loved Sanders’ expectations of Colorado’s football players. Sanders stated that his expectations for Colorado’s football players were also a hit with the public.
It will not be easy for the FFRF to decide if further action is needed against Sanders. The First Liberty Institute supports Coach Prime so it’s possible that the militant atheists could just let this one go.
