China Holds Military Advantage Over U.S. As Washington Prepares For Conflict Over Taiwan

Beijing is suspected of having been involved in the destruction of some subsea internet cables from Taiwan as fears mount about a Chinese invasion. Another harassment act occurred this week.

The internet outage in Taiwan caused inconvenience for residents and visitors but had serious implications for Taiwan’s security.

While there is no evidence that China deliberately cut internet lines, it raised questions about the attack on Taiwan and whether the U.S. would be able to stop it.

U.S. war games involving a Chinese takeover of Taiwan generally involve a large-scale amphibious attack that would attempt to quickly and efficiently take the island and its international allies by surprise.

Biden said that he would send troops in order to stop a Chinese land invasion. This could prompt other regional allies to the United States, which could result in costly and fatal attacks on all parties.

Fox News senior strategist Jack Keane stated China has a military edge.

Keane stated that America has one military advantage: its nuclear submarines. But, even with this advantage it still needed more sub-specialized units.

Keane argued this type of warfare is unlikely to be China’s actual way of attacking. This was according to U.S. defense officials.

According to the former four-star general, a blockade or quarantine of Taiwan is more likely. This would enable China to take control of Taiwan’s airspace, sea lanes, and land without firing a shot.

China has repeatedly attacked Taiwan with warplanes, navy ships, and other means. According to one commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces, the U.S. will play an important role in stopping China’s kinetic strike against Taiwan.

General Kenneth Wilsbach spoke with reporters on Wednesday at the Air & Space Forces Association Warfare Symposium in Colorado. He stated that Speaker Pelosi was shocked by the actions of China with its ships during his visit to Taiwan.

It’s not clear how the U.S. will react to Taiwan’s blockade of smaller islands or their slow takeover.

Keane stated the U.S. should dramatically increase its weapon production and weapon stockpiles as well as develop advanced missile systems like hypersonic missiles in order to deter China.

He stated that the U.S. would need to also arm Taiwan more effectively and replenish its arms backlog.

Keane said, “Taiwan cannot defeat the Chinese military on its own, but it could inflict serious costs on China. ”

He stated, “Taiwan doesn’t need a handout to purchase military equipment. They can buy it themselves. ”

Not only is the U.S. a country that wants to prevent Beijing from taking over the island, but so are other countries in the region.

Australia and South Korea, which have suffered from Chinese aggression overtly for many years, now stand behind America.

Keane stated that “This is essential because when we combine the aggregate coalition with America we begin to match China’s capability.” It is crucial that they are willing to cooperate with us in this way for deterrence. ”

Some estimates suggest that it could take the United States nearly a decade to replenish its stockpiles to repel an invasion by China. Beijing may continue to pursue its ambitions for Taiwan even though this is not enough time.

Beijing would be able to gain a geopolitical boost from the “reuniting Taiwan with China”, and thus overtake U.S.-led influence in the region. It would also increase China’s dominance in the South China Sea.
