Joshua Levy, Hunter Biden’s highly-skilled criminal defense lawyer, is reported to have quit working for the president’s father after “unease” over the team of lawyers that comprised at least four.
The New York Times reported Wednesday that Levy, who was originally hired to oppose congressional investigations seeking to uncover the complexities of family business schemes, has resigned.
According to reports, Levy has resigned from the case due to disagreements within Hunter’s legal team, and more specifically Abbe Lowell. Abbe Lowell was hired in December to represent Hunter and his family in nine congressional investigations, including wire fraud and money laundering. Lowell has represented many high-profile people involved in scandals such as Jared Kushner and Bill Clinton.
According to reports, Levy was dissatisfied with Lowell’s legal strategies and worried that his tactics might fail. Lowell, Tony Bobulinski and Rudy Giuliani were part of the February effort to send Lowell letters “litigation hold” letters in order to preserve “Laptop from Hell”. This move was seen by critics as a public relations tactic that changed the troubling narrative about the Biden family.
Mike Davis, the founder and president pro-Trump Article III Project, said that those letters were a “desperate and frivolous” effort that would harm the family’s legal position. The lawsuit will result in discovery, which will allow Hunter to be deposed on camera.
The Times published an article about why Hunter hired Levy in the first place:
Bob Bauer, President Biden’s personal attorney, recommended Mr. Levy to the job. According to someone familiar with the strategy, Mr. Levy had clashed against Kevin Morris, Hunter Biden’s close lawyer, who had lent him money for his back taxes and other bills. Mr. Levy was forced to leave after Hunter Biden and Mr. Morris brought in Mr. Lowell late last.
Hunter’s defense was a major issue for Lowell, who has had to leave Levy. However, it has also led to infighting between Clark and Chris Clark, another prominent attorney who handles Hunter’s criminal defense. Clark has a professional history that includes being a partner in the Washington, DC law firm where Rep. Liz Cheney works. According to Clark’s biography, he represented Hunter in the “grand jury investigation regarding tax issues.”
The Times reported that Chris Clark, the leading criminal defense lawyer representing Mr. Biden, kept Mr. Lowell at a safe distance while dealing with the matter. Hunter’s expensive legal team began to crumble just months into the House Oversight Committee investigation into the Biden family businesses.
When Ian Sams (White House spokesperson) was asked about Lowell’s involvement with Hunter’s legal defense, and the subsequent team chaos, he responded that Republican investigations into Biden’s family were “politically motivated, partisan attacks” that “deserves to be called out.”
Secret Empires and Profiles in Corruption was published by Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor to Breitbart and President of the Government Accountability Institute. The books reached #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers List. They revealed how Joe Biden and Hunter Biden traveled aboard Air Force Two to China in 2013, before Hunter’s company signed a $1.5billion deal with a subsidiary of China’s Bank of China within two weeks. Schweizer’s research also revealed other lucrative foreign deals and cronyism in the Biden family.
Emma-Jo Morris, Breitbart’s Political Editor, was also a major figure in international news when she and Miranda Devine revealed that Joe Biden was involved in Hunter’s business ventures. He even appeared to own a 10% stake in a company formed by the scion with officials from the Chinese Communist Party.
