Republicans Demand Accountability Following Reports Of Fauci Commissioning Paper To Discredit Lab Leak Theory

Anthony Fauci, a former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases physician advisor, reportedly approved a paper to steer the narrative on the origins of coronavirus. It was his attempt to discredit lab-leak theory. Republicans furious demanded that Fauci be held responsible.

A memo dated March 5 was sent to the Select Subcommittee on Coronavirus Pandemic. It revealed that Fauci along with “at least eleven other scientists” participated in a conference phone call on February 1, 2020. They were told that the coronavirus, which is from Wuhan in China, may have leaked from a laboratory.

Three days later, the conference participants authored a paper entitled ‘The Proximal Source of SARS-CoV-2 (Proximal Origin) and sent it to Drs. Collins and Fauci. ”

The memo says that the paper was sent to Dr. Fauci for editing and approval before it was published by Nature Medicine. Fauci used the paper for two more months to discredit the idea of a laboratory leak.

The Select Subcommittee released evidence that Dr. Fauci “prompted” the creation of a publication that would “disprove lab leak theory”. Despite his involvement, Dr. Jeremy Farrar wasn’t credited with the paper’s authors.

Fauci would mention this study at the White House podium.

Senator Rand Paul (R.KY), a man who has always questioned Fauci’s honesty, retweeted a clip by MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace referring to the laboratory leak theory in a Trump conspiracy theory.

Fauci claimed that we suggested a leak after funding gain of function research at Wuhan Lab. Sen. Tom Cotton (R.A.), stated that Fauci should be held accountable.

This report was the result of President Biden’s Department of Energy admitting the coronavirus likely came from a laboratory leak. Fauci claimed that it wasn’t at first.

“When you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what we know now, there is strong scientific evidence that this can’t have been intentionally or artificially manipulated.” All evidence supports the idea that the virus evolved in a gradual manner over time. Fauci said that the laboratory leak theory was circular and was rejected by National Geographic in May 2020.
