Kaitlin Armstrong, the Texas yoga instructor accused of killing her boyfriend’s ex-fling in Austin, Texas, last year, appeared in a Harris County courtroom Thursday for a pre-trial hearing.
Armstrong, 35 years old, displayed her plastic surgery on Thursday. She had allegedly undergone the procedure when she fled using the passport of her sister after she allegedly shot pro cyclist Moriah Wilson, 25 in May 2022.
The suspect is accused by the police of killing Wilson, a 25-year-old cyclist who was in Austin to compete and had made plans with Armstrong’s partner, Colin Strickland. Wilson and Strickland briefly dated in 2021.
Austin police found Wilson with multiple gunshot injuries inside the residence. They also collected shell casings that were found later at Armstrong and Strickland’s home.
U.S. Marshals found Armstrong in Costa Rica in July 2022 wearing a bandage on her face that she claimed came from a surfing accident, but a search warrant for Armstrong showed a $6,300 receipt for plastic surgery dated June 23, 2022, from a medical center in the coastal South American country, according to KXAN.
After being transported back to the United States, her booking photo taken in Harris County, Texas showed Armstrong with a smaller nose and darker, short hair, which authorities claimed she had cut before she was captured.
According to The Austin-American Statesman, Armstrong’s attorney Rick Cofer told Brandy Mueller, that the defense might need more time to collect evidence.
Last year, the bail amount for the 35-year-old woman was $3.5 million.
