According Monday’s reports, Finland’s Prime Minster Sanna Marin lost her bid for re-election after her party and far-right rivals were defeated in the general election.
Marin’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) came in third place in race after only 20.8% of Finnish voters voted for the centre-right National Coalition Party(NCP), while 20.1% voted for right-wing populist Party The Finns.
Marin won 19.9% support in Sunday’s election.
Marin failed to win another term in office as Prime Minister. However, no party is in a position yet to form a government. Each party received approximately 20% of the vote.
Marin, 37, is Europe’s youngest leader. Her support for Ukraine in the Russian invasion and her role in Finland’s impending NATO accession have been widely recognized.

Marin suffered from headaches after her opposition required that she take a drug test.
BBC reports that the prime minister refused the requests. According to the BBC, she claimed that she does not drink alcohol and parties “in a boisterous span>
It’s not clear if the video drew serious opposition from Finnish voters. This could have had an effect on the race to be prime Minister.
A new leadership is unlikely to change Finland’s position on international issues, including the war in Ukraine. Orpo told the Associated Press Monday that “We cannot accept such a terrible war.” ”
Orpo said that Putin should be told leave Ukraine because he will lose.
