Massive Increase in Drugs and Illegal Immigrants Observed by Northern Border Patrol

Border Patrol agents stationed at the U.S. border with Canada report increased illegal drugs and illegal immigrants seeking to enter the United States.

Residents in Swanton Sector told The Daily Caller News Foundation that they are worried about their safety. They have heard that illegal immigrants are breaking into their homes and cars.

CBP reporting revealed that U.S. Border Patrol seized 1,500 pounds of drugs from October 2022 through February 2023. Only four months into the fiscal year 2023, drug seizures outpaced the entire fiscal year 2022, when Border Patrol agents confiscated 1,300 pounds of drugs at the northern border.

From October 2022 through February 2023, the Office of Field Operations at the U.S.-Canada border seized 2,000 pounds of drugs. In the fiscal year 2022, agents seized nearly 59,000 pounds.

Border Patrol agents from the United States confiscate illegal drugs at entry points. The Office of Field Operations at CBP monitors entry points, vehicle inspections included.

Stimulant khat, marijuana, and other narcotics are the most commonly found at the northern border.

CBP reported that illegal immigration was also rising in Swanton Sector. This includes New York and Vermont. Border Patrol also arrested 367 illegal immigrants in January.

CBP issued a press release in February that stated that, despite temperatures exceedingly high in the region, January’s total was higher than the previous year’s January fears.

Elise Stefanik, a Republican New York Representative, stated that 2,019 Border Patrol agents patrol 138 ports of entry along the northern border at 5,525 miles.

America’s northern border is under threat from “these surges of border encounters and drug smuggling”, Stefanik wrote. Stefanik wrote to Alejandro Mayorkas (Homeland Security Secretary).

Stefanik stated, “We request you to give us a complete account of the Department of Homeland Security’s plans to reduce illegal immigrants and illicit drug flows into America from our northern border.”

CBP did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comments.
