According to a horrifying Paraguayan story, a mother sold her child in exchange for crack cocaine worth about $12. Later, the little girl’s raped and mutilated body was discovered.

Aurelia Sálinas, 42, of Pedro Juan Caballero in the capital of Paraguay told the police a few weeks ago that her 3-year-old daughter Luz Maida had vanished into the night while she was sleeping. The police noted that Salinas seemed to be drunk and didn’t seem too concerned about her daughter’s disappearance, but continued their investigation.

This investigation quickly became tragic. The neighbors found the remains of the girl in an abandoned house on the morning of April 22. She was lying on a bed, covered with a shirt. The autopsy revealed she had been raped.

The events leading to the death of this little girl are appalling. Salinas, when confronted by police, allegedly confessed to selling her daughter to a drug dealer boyfriend for 30 crack cocaine pieces, which is worth approximately PYG 100,000, or 12 dollars. Police claimed that the boyfriend also admitted to killing the three-year-old. Police have also arrested a third suspect, an unidentified 17-year-old.

CCTV footage captured what appeared to be the moment the boyfriend carried Luz from her home. The video may be grainy but Luz is wearing a blue gown that features characters from Disney’s “Frozen.” The suspect is said to have slapped her as she fidgeted while in his arms. Salinas was arrested as the locals gathered to try and lynch her. According to reports, 300 people attended Luz’s burial. Some of them even took revenge by burning down the abandoned house where her body was found.

Salinas’ neighbors also said that she has seven children and a “history full of tragedies.” Salinas is also under investigation for allegedly allowing a 30-year-old to sexually abuse her 12-year-old daughter.
