More than 60 groups on the left, who claim to represent more than 110,000 Californians call for Sen. Dianne F. Feinstein to resign her U.S. Senate position after she missed dozens of Senate votings this year due to health issues.
“Complications resulting from [your] illness threaten your storied legacy.” The groups said that your absences hinder the Democratic Senate majority elected by the people of California to do the work for our nation. The groups claimed her absence was holding up the Democrats agenda in the Senate. This included confirming judges.

The Democrat Senator has already stated that she won’t be running for re-election in her safe blue seat. She has missed several votes because of health issues, and this has caused the confirmation of judges nominated to President Joe Biden to be delayed.
Since being diagnosed with Shingles in February, Feinstein has not been able to vote at the Senate. The Senate Judiciary Committee is still deadlocked at 10-10 on a number of issues in her absence.

Democrats wanted to replace her in the Senate Judiciary Committee to give the Democrats a majority of 11-10. However, the Senate Republican leadership, as well as the rank-and-file Republicans, rejected this temporary move because they did not want to assist the Democrats to confirm more judges.
