Why Does Tucker Carlson Believe He Was Fired?

Tucker Carlson believes he knows why he was abruptly fired by Fox News this week. If what Tucker believes is true, it could have major implications for the News outlet.

Carlson believes Murdoch, who hasn’t publicly commented on it, is close to selling his network.

“Carlson has told people he doesn’t know why he was terminated. According to the source, [Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott] refused to tell him how the decision was made; she only said that it was made ‘from above.’ Carlson has told people he believes his controversial show is being taken off the air because the Murdoch children intend to sell Fox News at some point,” Vanity Fair reports.

The sale of Fox News by another company to a new owner could have an enormous impact on the broadcaster. The network is in chaos following Carlson’s departure.

Many were shocked by the firing of Carlson on Monday. Carlson was the most-watched cable news host ever.

The New York Times reported that “the power Mr. Carlson wielded in the outside world of Fox News was not enough to protect him from the growing list of problems inside the network, related to his conduct both on and off-air, which were grating to Mr. Murdoch and Rupert Murdoch who is the chairman of Fox Corporation and co-founded Fox in 1996,” according to two people familiar with the decision. The host was a polarizing, unpopular figure outside his staff. Dominion Voting Systems, in a defamation suit, exposed him as a bully, who used profane, sexist, and abusive language to denigrate colleagues and sources. He also called for the firing of Fox journalists whose reporting he did not like.

Murdochs were also reportedly not happy with Tucker Carlson’s coverage of the Capitol riot. The footage included in this video was not shown by the Committee on January 6, and so it destroyed the narrative they presented.

Tucker Carlson’s final show aired on Friday, April 21, and he was fired on Monday, denying him the opportunity to bid farewell to his viewers.
