Many people were horrified and angry when they saw a video on social media of Americans singing the National Anthem in a California restaurant.
A TikTok video user uploaded a video of the Rainbow Oaks Restaurant in Fallbrook. The customers sang the National Anthem while standing up and placing their hands on their hearts.
She wrote, “This is by far the most dangerous thing I have ever experienced.” She added hashtags to “white people” things.
The video was viewed over 3 million times on TikTok and received over 17,000 comments.
KUSI-TV sent one of their reporters to the restaurant in order to document the daily ritual, which has been going on for six years. She described it as the “most patriotic” restaurant she has ever visited.
Fox News reported that other social media users were not impressed.
“Serious question. Is this real?” One user replied.
“As someone from the UK, this feels so dystopian,” another person responded.
“In Spain, we don’t even hear the national anthem that much, so this would 100% freak me out so much,” wrote another user.
This feels like a scary movie. “Everyone stands up as soon as the music starts playing, and you are the only one not standing for the initiative,” said another comment.
Other people called it “scary,” “cultish,” and “nightmarish.”
Fallbrook, a town of 30,000 people, is located about 30 minutes from the beach.
